Downtown casinos get new management group
Dec. 24–Four downtown casinos have new management under a deal struck late last week. Tamares Group has retained the Navegante Group, a casino-development company, to manage its Plaza, Las Vegas Club, Gold Spike and Western hotels. Together, the hotels have about 2,000 employees and 1,600 rooms.

Siegfried and Roy sign a $57 million, five-year contract to provide entertainment at the hotel. - In Cuba, during the 1950's, the blackjack shoe was first introduced. The dealers in Cuba handled the cards really well and management thought that the dealers may be being a little too good to their friends. So, to curb their suspicions, management decided to use a "dealing box" which is currently known as a shoe.
