Jackpot Bingo and six booster groups are asking a Fayette judge to reconsider a ruling that allows the city to enforce its smoking ban inside bingo halls. The booster groups say that, because they’re private charities, they are exempt from the ban. The groups often hold fund-raisers inside bingo halls. Circuit Judge James Ishmael is scheduled to hear arguments on the motion at 1 p.m. on May 5.

- Riverboat Gaming Has Captured 20% of the Casino Market Share. Mississippi now has more gambling square footage than Atlantic City.
- 1926: Las Vegas gets a regular air service. Western Air Express flies between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. The airfield later becomes the site for the famous Sahara and Hilton hotels.
1931: Gambling is legalized in Nevada on March 19. Construction begins on the long awaited Hoover Dam. - When playing blackjack, always split Aces and never split 4's, 5's or Tens. You would be surprised at how many players split Tens. Why risk getting a lower hand when you already have a twenty value? Also note that at most casinos, you are not allowed to re-split Aces.
- In 1911, the state of California ruled that "draw" poker was a skill, and thus could not be banned under existing anti-gambling laws. However, "Stud" poker was still considered illegal at the time.
