Legislator urges complete ban on smoking in casinos
TRENTON New Jersey must move quickly to extend the state’s indoor smoking ban to casinos, a state lawmaker said Wednesday. State Sen. Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, cited this week’s report from the U.S. surgeon general that called secondhand smoke a serious health hazard.

- In 1978, New Jersey became the second state to legalize casino gambling in an attempt to revitalize the rundown resort area of Atlantic City. The legalization was restricted only to Atlantic City.
