Bingo industry demands £10m of tax breaks to cope with smoking ban
THE Scottish bingo industry is demanding emergency tax breaks of £10 million a year to help it adapt to Scotlands smoking ban.

Gambling casinos history:
- Although baccara has its origins in medieval Italy, it soon spread to France, where it was called "chemin de fer" (meaning railway, due to the action of the card box or shoe passing around the table on "tracks").
- Massachusetts decriminalized bingo in 1931 in an attempt to help churches and charitable organizations raise money. Bingo was legal in 11 states by the 1950s, usually only for charity purposes.
- 2000: MGM Grand Inc. stages the gaming industry's largest corporate buyout with its $6 million purchase of Mirage Resorts Inc.
2005: Las Vegas celebrates one illustrious century on May 15. - The most popular form of charitable gambling is bingo. In California, bingo is the only charitable game that is legal.
