Betting Site on Web Set to Drop 800 Employees
By Matt Richtel BetOnSports, the sports gambling Web site indicted by U.S. prosecutors last month for taking bets from hundreds of thousands of Americans, has told employees that it plans to shut down most of its operations, according to a spokesman.

Gambling casinos history:
- Legal gambling operations in Washington reported $1.7 billion in net receipts in 2005: 61 percent was reported by tribal casinos, 10 percent came from the state lottery. 2 percent of responders in a February state survey said they placed bets online.
