Politics: Gambling away Labour’s principles
When I was growing up, gambling was something that distinguished my working-class grandparents from my middle-class parents. The older generation enjoyed what they saw as a harmless flutter on the horses, while my mum and dad knew that gambling helped keep their parents poor.

1959: Wayne Newton performs in Vegas for the first time, despite the fact that he is still too young to enter a casino.
