A case for the gaming centre
The benefits of a community gaming centre outweigh concerns about expanded gambling in Prince George. City council holds a public hearing tonight on a proposed $15-million downtown complex which would house 660 bingo tables and 100 slot machines.

Gambling casinos history:

- Poker is derived from the Persian game of "as nar" and was probably based on the dice game "tali", which was played by the Romans.
- Gaming is now the States' favorite pastime. More individuals gamble than the combined total of those attending movies, sports, music events, theme parks and live entertainment.
- Baccara (Italian) or baccarat (French) both translate to "zero" in English. The importance of this name is found in the tens and face cards, both sharing the zero value.
