Our Lady of Lourdes School Bingo to be held on Jan. 13

Our Lady of Lourdes School, 379 Linden St., Massapequa Park, is hosting Basket Bingo Family Night, Saturday, January 13, 2007, with the doors opening 6 p.m. Baskets filled with a variety of goodies will be given to Bingo winners. Refreshments will be available. Door prizes will be given throughout the night. The admission is $5 for adults and children. Tickets will be sold at the door.

  • 1941: The Strip gets its first luxury hotel. El Rancho Vegas sets the trend for many of the themed resorts that sprout along the Strip in later years.
    1942: The first wedding chapel, the Little Church of the West, opens on the Strip in the Last Frontier Hotel.
  • In Cuba, during the 1950's, the blackjack shoe was first introduced. The dealers in Cuba handled the cards really well and management thought that the dealers may be being a little too good to their friends. So, to curb their suspicions, management decided to use a "dealing box" which is currently known as a shoe.
