Korean government to toughen up online gambling measures
The Korea Herald reports that the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication has announced it is to beef up monitoring measures on online gambling, working in conjunction with related government agencies including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Police Agency and the Information and Communication Ethics Committee, in a crackdown on online gambling.

Interesting gambling information:
- In 1978, New Jersey became the second state to legalize casino gambling in an attempt to revitalize the rundown resort area of Atlantic City. The legalization was restricted only to Atlantic City.
- Poker is derived from the Persian game of "as nar" and was probably based on the dice game "tali", which was played by the Romans.
- The word Casino originally meant a public hall for music and dancing. By the second half of the 19th century, the term essentially meant a collection of gaming or gambling rooms. The classic example of a casino, is the casino at Monte-Carlo, which was opened in 1861.
