The Bettendorf City Council could agree to cap gaming receipts from the Isle of Capri for 20 years on a gamble that it would be an incentive for construction of a land-based casino on the riverfront.

BOONVILLE A state senator faces charges after state gambling officials say he used a false ID to enter a casino. Sen. Jeff Smith, D-St. Louis, said he had been on an organized tour of the Isle of Capri in Boonville with other lawmakers and later returned to join the group and gamble.
