Casinos in Patrick’s plan will be smoke-free
BOSTON Smokers have long been free to puff away at many of the nation’s casinos - even those in states with indoor smoking bans. But Gov. Deval Patrick says no one will be allow to smoke in the three resort casinos he’s proposed for Massachusetts.

- A nationwide survey by the U.S. Travel Industry Association found that 38% of all U.S. residents have been to Las Vegas in their lifetime. The average length of visitors' stay in Las Vegas was almost 4 days (3.7).
- The word Casino originally meant a public hall for music and dancing. By the second half of the 19th century, the term essentially meant a collection of gaming or gambling rooms. The classic example of a casino, is the casino at Monte-Carlo, which was opened in 1861.
- When playing blackjack, always split Aces and never split 4's, 5's or Tens. You would be surprised at how many players split Tens. Why risk getting a lower hand when you already have a twenty value? Also note that at most casinos, you are not allowed to re-split Aces.
- The current wave of legal lotteries started in New Hampshire, spread to other North-Eastern states, and then across the nation.
