Enacting a statewide ban on smoking last year appears to have had a precipitous effect on charitable gambling revenues from pull-tabs and bingo, a report released today shows.
The game of bingo is a popular past-time at many senior centers. Players used to pack a northern Virginia firehouse to try their luck, but now, firefighters are extinguishing the tradition. They’re saying bye-bye to bingo and the big bucks it raked in. Fox 5’s Stacey Cohan has more details on why.
In the latest twist of the 500-year-old game of bingo, viewers of a new TV game show hosted by Patrick Duffy of Dallas fame can win cash at home playing along with cards downloaded from the Game Show Networks Web site.
