Bad connection?
New research funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the Responsibility in Gambling Trust and the Wellcome Trust Behavioural and Clinical Neuroscience Institute in the UK has suggested that almost-wins increase the motivation to gamble and can trigger compulsive betting behaviour.

Interesting gambling information:
- The El Rancho Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas was known for a few firsts. It was the first casino/resort on the Strip opening in 1941 with 63 guestrooms. It was also the first to offer a buffet. The cost of the buffet was only $1.00! The El Rancho burned down in 1960 and fortunately no one was hurt.
- The brand new resort, Wynn Las Vegas recently opened on the Las Vegas Strip. At a cost of approximately $2.7 billion, the Wynn Las Vegas features 2,700 guestrooms and suites, casino (table games, over 1900 slots/video poker machines, poker room with race and sports book), several restaurants, a night club, golf, a shopping esplanade and a show called Le Reve.
