Consumer spending at Illinois casinos decline; smoking ban cited

Consumers spent $1.57 billion in Illinois casinos in 2008, a 21 percent drop from 2007 and the steepest decline among 12 U.S. gambling markets due partly to the statewide smoking ban, according to a study released Monday by the American Gaming Association.
