BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A Birmingham church hoping to operate bingo had its application denied Tuesday by the Birmingham City Council. The House of Joshua had applied for a bingo permit, but city councilors denied the church-based charity bingo operation from opening up shop.
The Cook County Board on Tuesday amended an existing ban on video gambling to ensure the machines will not be allowed in unincorporated Cook County under Gov. Pat Quinn’s statewide construction plan. The measure to ban video gambling in unincorporated Cook County, proposed by Commissioner Bridget Gainer (D-10th), won on a 10-4 vote Tuesday.
